Common Rods

Common Rods and Techniques.
This is a short list of the many rods that I build, these are the rods I carry in my boat and use daily!

The prices listed here are 2009 prices and include personalized label built into the rod, any type handle, any type Fuji reel seat and Fuji Alconite guides.

Crankbait, top water and jerk bait rods.

The G Loomis CB series is the best crankbait series of rods available.  They are a special blend of graphite, that is light like graphite, sensitive like graphite, but very limber like the popular fiberglass crankbait rods, once you have fished one of these, the fiberglass will be for sale!!  All the benefits of fiberglass without the weight, plus the sensitivity of graphite.  Feel what you never knew you could feel with a crankbait!

G Loomis  CB783  Blend  Medium  6’6”  Casting   $160   (List $225)

This rod is great for casting small crankbaits like shad raps, it is the best sammy/spook rod made and is great for Pointer 78 and other small jerk baits.
G Loomis  CB841  Blend  Med-Lite 7’0”  Casting  $165   (List $230)
This rod is the same as the CB783 with six inches added to the butt section, it is great for casting small crankbaits long distances, it is the best big Pop R rod on the planet!
G Loomis  CB783  Blend  Medium  6’6”  Spinning $160 (Exclusive)
–No one, including G Loomis builds a spinning rod on a crankbait blank!  I own four of these.  Ever try to cast a #5 Shad Rap into the wind in March on main lake points?  This is the rod built specifically for that!  It will also cast a Rico or Pop R a mile.
G Loomis  CB843  Blend  Medium  7’0”  Casting   $170  (List $235)
–The utility crankbait rod!  Casts small up to medium crankbaits.  This is the most common all around crankbait rod.  It handles baits up to ½ oz like a dream.
G Loomis  CB845  Blend  Med-Hvy  7’0”  Casting  $175  (List $245)
–The work horse.  This is the deep diving crankbait rod for DT16s, DD22s and ¾ oz Fat Free Shads.  It is excellent for ½ and ¾ oz rattle traps.
G Loomis  CB756  Blend  Heavy      6’3”  Casting  $175   (List $245)
–This rod was designed for making short casts with heavy crankbaits to thick cover.  Baits like the Bagley Balsa B into lay down and flooded brush.
G Loomis  MB941  GL2  Light  7’10”  Casting  $155  (List $225)
–This is no utility rod, it is made for one thing!  That is throwing a big deep diving crankbait super long casts in open water!  The handle is long enough to give good leverage for long casts.  I build this rod with 11 Fuji Alconite guides.  If you want a specialty rod for deep cranking, this is the one.

Worm, Jig and Spinnerbait rods.

G Loomis  MB783  IMX  Med-Hvy  6’6”  Casting   $205 (List $260)
–This is the utility rod!  Texas rigged worms, senkos, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, anything that requires shorter accurate casts and a rod with some backbone.
G Loomis  MB843  IMX  Med-Hvy 7’0”  Casting  $215   (List $270)
–The rig rod!  This rod is perfect for anything from a finesse mojo rig to a ¾ oz Carolina rig.
Big worm?  Deep spinnerbait?  It is light and super small in diameter, you will be amazed at the backbone that this rod has.  Build it with the Fuji ACS reel seat and no fore grip and you have the most sensitive Ole’ Monster worm rod on the planet.
G Loomis  MB844  IMX  Heavy     7’0”  Casting   $220    (List $285)
–Flipping Stick!.  This is the rod I flip with 90% of the time.  Super light, super sensitive, plenty of backbone.  This rod is perfect for flipping brush, lay downs and grass, it handles ¼ to ¾ oz jigs like a dream.
St Croix    5C70HF-G  SC V  Heavy  7’0”  Casting $230   (List $350)
–The Football Jig Rod.  This blank is heavier and much stiffer than the MB844 GLX, the sensitivity is just as good, but the additional weight is noticeable.  However, this blank caries its backbone all the way to the tip.  If you want to set the hook on a ¾ oz (or much heavier) football jig on the end of a long cast in deep water, this rod has what is necessary to drive that hook into the jaw of a quality fish.  This is also the best rod available for flipping matted grass with those 1 and 1 ½ oz penetrator tungsten weights.
St Croix  5C70MF-G  SC V  Medium   7’0” Casting $220 (List $330)
–The Senko rod!  This rod has slightly more power than the G Loomis medium rods.  It is perfect for making long casts in clear water with a weightless or split shot Senko.  This rod is also perfect for a 1/8 to 5/16 oz finesse jig.
St Croix  5C66MF-G  SC V  Medium 6’6” Casting  $210  (List $320)
–Small spinnerbaits and swimming grubs.  Also perfect for a finesse Texas rig.  This rod is perfect for small baits, it has a limber tip, but has more backbone than the G Loomis medium rods.
St Croix  5C66MF-G  SC V Medium 6’6” Spinning $210 (List $320)
–Shaky Head or Dock Skipping!  This is my personal favorite blank for fishing plastics on a spinning rod, I have three in the boat!  The tip is nice for light baits, but the rod has plenty of backbone for hook sets.
St Croix  3C66MHF  SC III Med-Hvy 6’6” Casting $150 (List $180)
–This is the utility rod!  Texas rigged worms, senkos, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, anything that requires shorter accurate casts and a rod with some backbone.  Considering the price, warranty, weight, sensitivity and backbone-This may be the best value in fishing rods today!  St Croix hit a home run with these rods.
St Croix  3C70MHF  SC III  Med-Hvy 7’0” Casting $155 (List $185)
–Carolinia rig rod, finesse jigs, big spinnerbaits!  Considering the price, warranty, weight, sensitivity and backbone-This may be the best value in fishing rods today!  St Croix hit a home run with these rods.
Note:  There are more than one hundred custom blanks available from G Loomis and St Croix!  If you do not see what you want here, please Email or call.  Above is simply a list the common rods that I build.  There  are literally thousands of combinations of blanks, handle types, reel seats, guides, etc.
